Jefferson School PTO Weekly Update
Messages from the District & Principal
🎃Halloween at Jefferson🎃

👗 Costume Expectations

Please keep our District Weapons Policy in mind — no toy weapons or replicas (🚫 guns, swords, knives, bows/arrows, pitchforks, etc.).

Plan costumes with safety first! ✅

  • Students should be able to see and walk easily.

  • Costumes should not cause tripping or blocked vision.

  • If a costume is unsafe or inappropriate, staff may ask a child to remove part (or all) of it, and parents may be contacted.

🎉 Halloween Parade

🕙 When: 10:00 AM (new time!)

Students may come to school in costume or bring clothes to change into later (just check with a staff member first).

Parade Route:
Classes will exit through the old main entrance on Ashwood Ave, turn right, go down the Amphitheater steps, and gather on the Blacktop.
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Families — please wait until all classes pass before joining your student on the Blacktop for photos. We’ll stay out for about 10 minutes.

If the weather doesn’t cooperate ☔, the parade will be canceled (a School Messenger will be sent that morning).

🧁 Class Parties

🎈 Class parties will be held in the afternoon (exact times shared by homeroom teachers).
👫 Only two Class Parents may attend per class.
🚫 No food, candy, or treats may be brought, served, or distributed.

PTO Executive Board Nominating Committee

Would you like to help the PTO find new officers for the 2026-2027 school year?

Nominating Committee responsibilities include:

  • developing a pool of potential nominees by contacting teachers, class parents and the general membership
  • making sure job descriptions are accurate and fielding questions
  • presenting a slate of nominees to the Executive Board in April

If you're interested or know someone who would be interested, please contact Kristin Lorenzo or Kristyn Papageorgiou or sign up through MTK.

Art in the Classroom

Art in the Classroom (AIC) is PTO-sponsored and parent volunteer run, so we need your help! Our goal is to provide an art history program that offers Jefferson School students a snapshot of prominent works of art by a wide range of famous artists. You do not need to know anything particular about art, as all the materials, lessons and project ideas are provided for you. The kids love this program, but we really need to secure volunteers for each grade and classroom in order to make it a success.
